Red State Revolt, by Eric Blanc, chronicles the inspiring examples of teachers in West Virginia, Oklahoma, and Arizona, who successfully used job action to demand better pay, more supports for students, and an end to years of enforced austerity.

Jack Schneider and Jennifer Berkshire, authors of A Wolf At the Schoolhouse Door, and creators of the podcast, Have You Heard, examine how neo-liberal policies deliberately privatize and dismantle public education. They were guest speakers for the EPT Local 37 and have a new book that will be released in Summer 2024: The Education Wars: A Citizen’s Guide and Defense Manual.

Shannon D. Moore (University of Manitoba) and Stephen Hurley explore how we can protect the idea that public education is, in fact, a public good. They examine our Canadian contexts, explore many perspectives, and provide tools to help mobilize conversations in our communities.
In 2023, Edmonton Public Teachers Local 37 hosted multiple round tables and used an online Google Form to collect information from teachers, school staff, parents and community members about their concerns, expectations and priority changes for a vital future for public education in Alberta. These ideas were consolidated into a document that outlines 6 critical priorities for strengthening public education in Alberta. Click to read this report!
